Home: Welcome

Every LOTUS has struggled through mud and murky water, before they bloomed into a beautiful, resilient flower.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, we are raising money to offer a full scholarshipto those who are in a Reentry and/or Recovery program, to attend One Stop Beauty School and become a licensed Nail Technician. The foundation’s mission is to select a "Lotus Scholar" to learn a skill and earn an honest living, while finding their purpose in life: helping others feel beautiful.
The scholarship is named after the beautiful and resilient lotus flower, which has a life cycle unlike any other plant. With its roots latched in mud, it submerges every night into river water and miraculously re-blooms the next morning, sparklingly clean. In many cultures, this process associates the flower with rebirth and spiritual enlightenment.
The hopeful story of the lotus is remarkably similar to that of Olivia Mae Fleming a founding member, who has recently pass away. Olivia struggled with drug addiction for many years and served time in jail—she was fragile and unsure of her next steps. Through a mentorship with Bibi, Olivia found passion, confidence, and motivation. She started a successful career in the beauty field, and within two years, she purchased her first car and moved into her first apartment on her own. Mournfully, she took her own life after a psychosis relapse on April 15th, 2021.

THE OLIVIA MAE
LOTUS SCHOLARSHIP
In loving memory 1989 - 2021
As an original One Stop Beauty Foundation co-founder, Olivia envisioned The Lotus Scholarship could help others like her, have a second chance at building a life, regardless of background or struggle.
Olivia wholeheartedly believed that becoming a nail technician, working in the salon, making others feel good--- made life more meaningful and less lonely.
The Lotus Scholarship is an opportunity for people to learn a trade that can help them earn an honest living.
